Do any shops or websites do mobile trade-ins?

Is it possible to trade in my iPhone 3GS against the price of an iPhone 4S?

If they do then it'll be part of a recycle your phone thing and you'll be better off doing it yourself.

Yes, there's loads: mazuma, envirofone etc...but you'll get a better price for 99% of phone selling on eBay (even taking into account eBay and PayPal fees).

You could also get a similar price to the recyclers by going to somewhere like CeX. Personally I used Orange Recycle because I couldn't be bothered with eBay, read: I'm lazy.

I Mazuma'd my HTC Desire, I am also lazy ;).

Considering how little you get for your phone from Mazuma, Orange, etc. it's much better to keep it. One day everyone loses/breaks/bricks their nice and shiny primary phone. What you gonna do then, take out £10 Nokia? Don't think so.

One day everyone has a problem with a car, but you don't keep your 10 year old Rover 45 when you buy a new car :p

I would if it fit in the drawer and was only worth a tenner

I have a Nokia 1100 that work gave me in a drawer in the kitchen, if the S2 has an accident, I'll whip out the sh*t phone haha :D.

Car requires registration + insurance + place to keep it. Not a good comparison.

Reg and insurance? Surely you'd just make a SORN? Either way, I never kept any of my iPods when I upgraded, nor my old Xbox 360, old TV, old laptop etc. If any of them broke it's not the end of the world. A few days repair is all it takes and even then there are alternatives.

I would consider a phone as something you cannot live without. It won't kill me if I happen to be without one, but why should I over mere £50

blizzard7  Dec. 8, 2011 at 16:20

I actually got £130 so I'm not complaining :p
