Would it be silly buying a BlackBerry PlayBook?

Would it be silly buying a BlackBerry PlayBook? £129/£149 for 8GB/16GB seems like a great deal to me! Or is it worth spending a bit more for an Asus Nexus 7?

Depends what you want it for, really.

Agree.

The price isn't bad. But without knowing your needs and preferences???? I, e.g., personally prefer ... well, pretty much everything over Android :p

(This bit's for Jan)

Here's the big question:

iOS or Android (in their latest versions)?

OP, I wouldn't buy a PlayBook unless:

a) I already owned and used a BB as my main phone
b) I mainly wanted to use my tablet for browsing/email
c) Apps didn't mean much to me
d) I was willing to use an OS in its current state, with little chance of long term support.

If you meet those criteria, a PlayBook may be a sensible choice for you :).

If you want it for just internet use, email and video playback (though not much in the way of streaming options) it's a good enough option.

matt, that's a toughy... iOS - jailbreaked. Without? No way. So, Android. That's phones. Tablet? iOS. No ifs...

If you could have root access on Android or have a jailbroken iPhone, which then wins?

I agree about tablets, the N7 is very, very good but also doesn't attempt to compete with the iPad. In the "proper" (aka ~10") market, the iPad is the only sensible choice, IMHO.

iOS.
But I guess it's mainly aesthetics, tbh. I just don't like Android. Android apps, the hardware etc... It's as if they read my mind and do the opposite. LOL
Okay, it doesn't help that I'm not a fan of Eric Schmidt's politics, but hey, I don't like Apple much, either...
No, sadly, I'd like to have a smarter answer, but: I just don't like Android. To me it looks and feels like a handheld game console OS targetting hyperactive teens :p
