Best SIM free smartphones for £250?

What's the best smartphone I can get for £250?
Open to Android and even Windows Phone ;)
Do you think it's worth holding off for the January sales, or are there any good offers at the moment?

Hard choice... you could save money and buy a Moto G?
I'm no Android fan, but judging by everything I have read and heard about it, it doesn't get better for the money.

Next, to stay with Android, would be the Huawei Ascend P6...

WP: You'd get a Nokia Lumia 625 - a gigantic phone with so-so specs and none of Nokia's
photo magic. It's of solid build, though. If a camera is not important, it may be worth a 'visit'.
You'd also get a HTC 8X - not a single stand-out feature (like many WP devices), but solid, and, imho, a very nice design. It feels very good, camera is acceptable.

You can, if I remember correctly, find a Blackberry Z10 for around £250. It's pretty much the price it should've launched at, and for £250 it is a good phone even if BBM isn't your thing.

A quick search on the usual sites just now hasn't shown any spectacular offers. Maybe that'll change come January?

Oh, noticed that, currently, Amazon sell the Lumia 925 from around £280 - maybe that'll go down in the new year?! It's a pretty nice device. Great camera, fast, and of spectacular build.

Z10 is 169+10 credit (total 179 if you dont have a valid paygo sim) from carphone warehouse unlocked.

For that money the Z10 is an excellent choice if Android is not your thing!

Think the Nokia 920 is still £230
Sony SP looks very nice for it's £180 price tag

I thought the sales were already on tbh
