Is there something similar to Ovi Maps for Android?

I’m getting an HTC Desire but just wanted to make sure it has something similar to Nokia’s Ovi Maps.

'similar'? Yes, but as good and as convenient? No!
Yes, there are Android apps that let you download and store maps on the phone, but compared to Nokia's Ovi Maps they are an utter joke.
If you have 24/7 fabulous coverage and a great data plan, then Google maps for Android is great, But seriously...if maps on the phone are important, stick with Nokia or get an iPhone and pay a lot of money for a good Satnav app that lets you store maps locally.
(I'm sure an Android fan will correct me now :p )

Why not download Cygic? Free and maps are stored locally - seems very good. On the Market now (big download, best to use wifi for this).

Similar in that it can store offline maps, MapDroyd.
Similar in that is is as good as Ovi Maps? That's a big Nada.

Ooops, it's spelt Sygic. Apologies.
