Smallest smartphone with a quad-core processor?

What's the smallest smartphone with a quad-core processor? Why are high spec phones always so big ?! ?!

Zte era, huawei d quad.
Nexus 4 specs put it at slightly smaller than the One X
Is a rumoured HTC at 4.5 not sure what to make of those though, zeta, looks compact.

In honesty though limiting sights on quad core is a little flawed as many of the newer dual core phones out pace those with early quad core processors.

"Early" quad-core processors? They've only been around since mid-2012, you make it sound like the Tegra 3 is dinosaur technology. Despite your questionable wording, you are right. The Snapdragon S4 outpaces the Tegra 3 in the CPU department, as does the A6 chip in the iPhone 5.

mid 2012, impressive that the HTC One X launched without a processor then...

Though that would help to explain the sales....

April, that's Q2, which counts as mid-year in my book.

I find your book has questionable wording then.

2/4 isn't the middle?

4/12 isn't. Nor 103/366 for that matter. Would a bird catching a worm at 6.30am be an early one, or a midday one? Even Clattenberg couldn't call half time after 28 minutes as it was pretty much half of 90.

Irrelevant regardless as there weren't any earlier quad cores so how are they not early ones? Just like of the early wp8 phones the ativ is the only one with power and expandable storage, unless the spec changed.... And early Nexus 7 buyers only had choice between 8 and 16gb.....

If you want to get picky, you used the plural of processor when talking about the Tegra 3, the only other "early" QC processor was the Exynos 4412, which isn't outpaced by the S4 (or any other dual-core chip that's in a product you can actually buy, before the Nexus 10 gets mentioned).

What are these other "early" QC processors? All I can think of is the one in the Ascend Quad (which isn't even out in the UK yet and was only released a couple of months ago in China) and the S4 Pro which was first used in the Optimus G just last month.

Also, by calling something an "early" model, that suggests there are later models which replaced it, since the S4 Pro is only currently in one purchasable device and the Exynos 4412 is limited to some cheap Chinese crap and Samsung devices, I'd say the Tegra 3 is one of the only widely available mobile QC chips.

I await your reply ;) (as you can tell, I've got the day off, yay :p).

Well I know they haven't sold many One Xs but I think they might each have a processor.... also had different versions in other devices....

Basic point remains it's not an indicator of processor power and so looking exclusively for quad core is flawed.

The site thrives on thinking about devices yet to come, mainly as much of the recent crop have been so moribund and partly as it's taking so long after annonuncements to get these things launched.

Seeing as you've the day off you could try correcting Lewis's articles of late or maybe answering the op's actual question?

Course the answer now is that ZTE U950 on the news page....
