Help with best smartphone?

O.k, so if you remember my previous topic, I asked for the best phone which had buttons but isn't a BlackBerry. This is a somewhat follows up but I now ask what is the best smartphone (can be touchscreen or a BlackBerry) that works well and is under £80. The person in question has been interested in the san Francisco 2 but surely you can get better for the price? It should have 3g at least as well. Not interested in ssecond hand also. Could also be a good phone on contract for about £7 a month with more than 200 free texts and some minutes. Thanks for any help.

I've kinda narrowed it down to the Huawei G300 or a cheap Windows phone. Unsure though

QI saw that but many say that the G300 is far superior and worth the extra.

G300 rocks. It's a very good phone for the money. very, very good.

You can get the Huawei Ascend G300 for £70 here-

Much cheaper than san fran 2 and other phones of similar/worse spec.

Close call between the Galaxy S and the G300, IMO. The rest are considerably worse than those two.

xbox-360-elite  Jul. 16, 2012 at 01:06

The HTC desire cC as well?

matt101101 / MOD  Jul. 16, 2012 at 02:17

The Desire C's a bit crap from what I can remember. It's yet another rehash of the Wildfire.

mrew42  Jul. 16, 2012 at 06:47

Desire C, slower CPU - rather pointless addition to the HTC range. And takes the Desire name, once a flagship, to something not far from the bottom of the barrel.

Galaxy S is very old now and not up to date as much as the g300. So the g300 is slightly better. And much cheaper.

(And faster)

Pondlife  Jul. 16, 2012 at 08:23

Galaxy S has a lot in it's favour over the g300 too though, amoled gorilla glass screen, likely a better camera and a front one too, tv out. Rather less likely to get official ICS and JB I guess.
I thought the A8 processor would be better than the A5 one on the g300 is that wrong?

The phone just needs to work really well stock. Nothing too special really

G300: it's modern, easy to pick up new (whereas the Galaxy S would be more challenging to find), cheap, has plenty of power and it's getting ICS.

Seems like the one to go for. Thanks for all the help
