Should a new smartphone battery be run all the way down to 0%? Or does it not really matter with modern batteries?

There's disagreement about this subject. Once a month is a sort of compromise.

I rarely run my battery all the way down, and when I do it's an accident and usually ends up with me missing a load of stuff for the rest of the day. As Jan says, there appears to be disagreement on the matter among those in the know.
