Plastic? Metal? Wood? Something else?!

Wood, I guess. I could sand scratches and dents out and keep it looking fresh. Also, in the context of what phones are used for, it's far harder to break than either plastic or metal (lets not even get into glass phones, they're ridiculous).

Wood or bamboo... true.
Other than that? Plastic. I like the look of certain 'metal' devices, but frequently they do not actually feel good, and as matt suggested: they dent, scratch and - depending on the design - attract fingerprints and/or dirt...

Carbon Fiber or Kevlar. Moto Droids are sturdy and come with fine texture for extra grip.

As a cheap plastic alternative I would prefer to have extra layer of whatever Moto G has on their cases.

I thought the Moto G felt and looked a lot like my N9... Not pretty but a good feel.
