Is "SoC" just another way of saying "processor"?

Is "SoC" just another way of saying "processor"? I've seen both written down. Are they synonyms?

Kind of, more specifically silicon on chip. Google it

I thought it stood for System on a Chip?

Still, yes, for most purposes (unless you want to get technical) the terms are interchangeable. I usually write SoC because it's less typing than processor :p.

I thought it was system on chip too. Anyway in a SoC the processor is one part, can have other things like memory, voltage regulation, i/o systems, DAC

Well cpu is easier typing than SoC ;)

So it's more than just the processor, it's lots of other associated gubbins
