Software update brings Wi-Fi tethering to Lumia 710 and 800

Software update brings Wi-Fi tethering to Lumia 710 and 800The lack of Wi-Fi tethering is something Nokia Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 users have been crying about for months. Well dry those tears, you big babies.

A spanking new software update for the Nokia Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 is rolling out now, bringing the first Nokia Windows Phones in line with the younger Lumia 610 and Lumia 900.

Another new feature already available to Nokia Lumia 610 and Lumia 900 owners is flip-to-silence, allowing users to silence all incoming alerts by turning their phone face down.

The Nokia Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 will also gain access to “cool new Nokia apps”, most notably Camera Extras. Installing Camera Extras introduces a host of new camera options, including Action Shot (a burst mode) and Self Timer.

We also have ContactShare (share and receive business cards via SMS), while PlayTo introduces the ability to share content with DLNA-enabled devices.

To grab the update, simply connect your Nokia Lumia 710 and/or Lumia 800 via USB to your PC (Zune) or Mac (Windows Phone 7 Connector).

Well it's good that they got it out there, expect there's a few happy owners now, over 3 months doesn't meet my description of soon as regard to a software update though.

Took long enough. Disgusting tbh. Really glad the 7.8 update is rolling out directly, it should hit all devices at roughly the same time.

Haven't seen the update for the Lumia 800 yet after hooking it to Zune. :(

Same here. Unbranded as well, so irritating. Would have thought unbranded handsets would be the first with no operator needing to vet the update.

Finally got the update and it works! played a bit with PlayTo to stream some content on the computer and it worked better than LG's smartshare.

I'll check out Camera Extra and Contact Share when they come out on the Nokia market.
