My son accidentally set a password on his phone and can't remember it. It's not the SIM that's passworded, but the phone itself, a new sim doesn't help.

The only legal way, is to phone your operator up, prove that you are the owner (by answering questions) and then get a PUK code, which your phone will ask for after being locked down.

Or Google for the factory unlock code. I once did it for my little sister's Samsung Jet.
