Sony 2013 flagship tipped to rock 6in 1080p display and 3GB of RAM

Sony 2013 flagship tipped to rock 6in 1080p display and 3GB of RAMThe largest member of Sony’s Android family at present is the Xperia T, with its 4.55in display. We’ve also been told to brace for the imminent arrival of the 5in Yuga and Odin.

Now we’re being warned to further brace for an even bigger Sony Xperia beast, specifically one with a 6in display, and – as if that wasn’t crazy enough – 3GB of RAM. Good lord.

That’s the word according to Chinese site IT168, ably relayed by the gentlemen of Android Community.

Other specs on the unnamed Sony device are thought to include a 16MP rear camera and 3,000mAh battery. Not too shabby.

Fancy it? Well, the beast isn’t expected to arrive until October time, so we’ve still got – let’s see – just under a year to wait.

Of course, by that time we’ll inevitably have the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with a bigger-than-5.5in display, and 6in won’t seem all that crazy after all.

For those who like it big, Chinese manufacturer Huawei has also confirmed it’s working on a 6.1in smartphone called the, uhm, Ascend Mate.

Makes me think back to the Commodore 64 and the huge amount of ram computers used back then...

I don't 3gb or ram will be all that unusual by next autumn either..

Oh come on...

?
That about what I put or manufacturers drive to go away from the size of phone we want.

Not enough, I expect 1800p and a one MILLION megapixel camera.

Why do manufacturers see the ever increasing need to make phones bigger? And at the other end of the scale tablets are getting smaller, what's wrong with just leaving things at a sensible standard size.

I dont believe it will have 3gb ram, im not that much of a technology expert but from what i do know, you dont get 3gb, the amount of ram goes up in like doubles, so you can have 1gb, 2gb or 4gb, you never get something between like 3..

Then this laptop and thousands like it, are a myth... :p

Well we've had 768mb ram so I wouldn't rule it out.
Heavy rumours on a Samsung using 3gb soon too.

Must have also been a dream that the Acer laptop I'm currently typing this on originally came with 3GB of RAM...

True, I've read something similar.

I think at some point a desktop PC I owned had 768mb of RAM running XP.

The laptop and desktop ram angle is a bit of fudged argument for me though as it's not like the phones will have two ram cards in them with 8 or 16 chips on each.

the only ridiculous part of that spec is the 16MP camera with a no-doubt tiny sensor.

6" for a flagship sounds a bit... much. The Note 2 seems to be wildly popular but I don't think its as popular as the S3, which is still the flagship model is it not?

That said, if there was a mad specced 5" 1080p Sony flagship with removable battery and microSD, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Pondlife  Dec. 12, 2012 at 22:57

Well that 5"er is rumoured to be incoming soon as LC mentioned at the beginning

Yuga is said to have a non-removable battery and Odin doesn't mention it though :/
