Sony Ericsson to crank up Facebook integration

Sony Ericsson to crank up Facebook integrationThe Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro were announced earlier this week, and both will feature enhanced Facebook integration. For example, you’ll be able to ‘Like’ junk on your phone, such as songs and photos, and it’ll link to your Facebook account.

Sony Ericsson has told TechRadar that Facebook integration will go even deeper in “a couple of quarters”, though the spokesperson wouldn’t reveal any specifics.

We could see something similar to the INQ Cloud Touch’s Social Graph API, which weeds out info from folk you don’t actually interact with on Facebook, leaving only your truest friends. Bless.

Sony Ericsson did, however, confirm that the new Facebookness will also come to existing handsets, namely the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo and Xperia X10, just as soon as they get delicious Gingerbread (Android 2.3). Cripes knows when that’ll be.

The Xperia Mini is expected in August, with the Xperia Mini Pro following some time in the third quarter.
