Sony Ericsson to unveil Xperia S and Xperia Ion at CES 2012

Sony Ericsson to unveil Xperia S and Xperia Ion at CES 2012It’s been a while since Sony Ericsson launched anything of interest, and it’s miles behind in the specs game, but SEMC Blog reckons the ailing manufacturer has two high-specced beasts primed for CES 2012.

They are the Sony (Ericsson) Xperia S and Sony (Ericsson) Xperia Ion. As implied by the brackets, it’s not known if the handsets will carry the Ericsson name, or if they'll be Sony-only.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia S, firstly, is the latest name for the Sony Ericsson Nozomi, or Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD as it’s also been called in the past.

Rumoured Sony Ericsson Xperia S specs include a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon MSM8860 processor, an 8MP camera, 8GB of on board storage, 1080p video capture and Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) in the engine room.

Just yesterday, Martin scribbled about Sony Ericsson Xperia S benchmarking goodness.

As for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ion, that’s the first time we’ve heard that particular name, but it could be the LT28at we heard about a few weeks ago. It’s said to boast a 13MP camera and was rumoured for a CES 2012 debut.

In any case, it should be just a few hours before we find out for sure…
