Does anyone know Sony Ericsson Xperia Play sales figures?

I'm curious as to how successful the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has been. Has SE announced sales or shipping figures?

fullmoon,
yes. Instead you got the bulk of a full qwerty but no qwerty. And since we currently see bad pricedrops for Nintendo DSs, and since the people do not all buy PSPs and Plays instead, it's safe to assume that Androids and iPhones do the quickgame thing just fine without a silly slider.

CarphoneWarehouse'reckon' they sell "1 or 2 per week"... #ouch
There are no exact figures, but the low PS games sales have been moaned about repeatedly.
I know 4 shops locally - Vf, O2 and Three - they told me last week they hadn't sold a single Xperia Play since launch.

Very low. You don't put a year old GPU into gaming phone, how dumb do you have to be?

oops, yeah.
I'm quite willing to bet Sony Ericsson will be goners by end 2012 unless something very odd saves them.

Problem is all other smart phones can play 3D games without needing PSP badge. Especially Galaxy S2

I'll ask both the people who bought one, they might know.

Look at this massive price drop, I mean, the phone's only been out a few months...it's almost half price now...

xactly, Matt - and that'd be okay if the Play games in the Market sold. But they don't.
I'm rarely in agreement with Eldar Murtazin, but his 'prediction' that SE as we know it will be gone by end 2012 is not implausible. Thanks to Nokrosoft/wp7/symbian few people pay attention to just how poorly SE has been doing over the last 3 years. Folks assume that, since Android is a winner, every Android manufacturer must be doing well. That is not so.
Considering SE long reputation as a phonemaker, its marketing budget and corporate backing, it seems even Acer are doing (relatively) better - no waste on marketing, and Eten was not a huge investment for Acer....
Times are changing.

It's a shame to see SE go so badly wrong...I had a W810i years ago and it was a fantastic phone for it's day. Since then SE has gone rapidly downhill, unlike Motorola, Android has not saved SE. I agree with Jan, people aren't noticing SE's failures thanks to bigger/worse failures from other manufacturers. Things change quickly in the mobile world, I mean who had an HTC 5 years ago :p?

Its a shame if this hasnt done so well as its a great idea, personally I dont like slide out keyboards now (touchscreen is as good if not better) but gaming on a touchscreen (apart from games that are designed for it) is rubbish, especially FPS. So having a slide out gampad was genius, just a shame they didnt add dual (or even single) thumsticks for proper gaming!
