Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro slips to September

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro slips to SeptemberMost of the goodies we met at Mobile World Congress have appeared on shelves, but the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro remains one of the most notable exceptions. And it’s only gone and slipped back again.

A couple of months ago we were told it'd be “available June”, but that eventually became “late July”. Now we’re looking at “late September” for the elusive QWERTY-rocking dude.

September is the latest date suggested on Sony Ericsson’s official online store. Alas, no reason is given for the repeated delay. It’s anyone’s guess.

Could it be an issue with the sliding mechanism? It’s a possibility (one that I just plucked out of the air), but Sony Ericsson boasts that the Xperia Pro’s slide-out keyboard is “superbly designed”. Hmm.

In any case, it still looks like it'll be one of the best options as far as Android QWERTY sliders go. It has a 3.7in display, 1GHz processor (compared to the HTC Desire Z’s 800MHz) and an 8MP shooter.

I think I speak for everyone when I say: “Hurry uuuuuuup.”

Hi Lewis,
what is your thought on Droid 3 in comparison to Xperia Pro?
And any news on its release date?

Hi Rishi.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like we're getting the Droid 3 (or Milestone 3 as it would've been called) over here. Motorola is giving us the Pro as a consolation prize.
