I finally managed to escape the bloomin' press area this afternoon and wandered down to Sony Ericsson's Mobile World Conference stand. Along with Wendy, our conference camera lady, I spoke to Pedro, who told us a bit more about the new Xperias.
Wendy is putting the finishing touches to a video interview piece, but for now here's a good old-fashioned text-based synopsis.
We briefly glossed over the Arc, Neo and Pro, but let's not beat around the bush; what we really wanted to hear about was the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.
Pedro pretty much confirmed that the Xperia Play is Sony Ericsson's focus this year. But that's patently obvious.
He also confirmed that it had been in development for a while. It's been bloody years since the first rumblings of a PSP-style phone. Supposedly the timing is finally right. Or maybe they just finished developing the bloody thing.
Games will apparently be around the €4-7 mark, though of course that's also down to the developers.
Best of all, we won't have to wait much longer for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. It'll be available by the end of Q1 in 2011 in the UK. Pedro couldn't be convinced to reveal which network(s) will carry the Xperia Play, or what the price might be. More on that as it's revealed.
In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for our video piece.
