You may recall us musing last week over the Sony Odin, supposedly the next Xperia flagship that's due to touch down sometime in the new year.
Well now we can add a bit of substance to the rumour with what is claimed to be the next-gen Sony powerhouse's official spec.
We have the Xperia thread on the Esato Forums to thank for the latest rumours, which add to the User Agent Profile info that emerged last week to create an increasingly clear image of what Sony has in mind for its next generation Xperia flagship.
That's if any of it is true, of course, but let's assume it is for the time being until given good reason to think otherwise.
We're apparently talking a 5in 1080p display, a quad-core S4 Pro processor and a full 2GB of RAM. It's certainly a tantalising prospect, and if it is accurate then Sony will finally have caught up that half-step it always seems to be trailing the leading Android OEMs by.
Then again, it all depends on when the Odin actually launches. That spec might look good right now, but if the handset itself only appears in March or April, then it won't look nearly as special.
The suggestion is that Sony will officially announce the Odin at CES 2013 in Las Vegas in January – which seems plausible considering Sony has often launched new mobile hardware at the US event in the past rather than wait for Mobile World Congress a month later.
But that's not all – alongside rumours of the 5in Odin comes whispers that the same device might be offered in an even bigger 6in configuration, raising the “phablet” concept to ridiculous new heights – at least until Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 comes along with a 6.2in display or something.
