You’re no one in the world of Android if you don’t have a 5in smartphone on offer. Samsung has the Galaxy Note, HTC the J Butterfly, and LG the Optimus Vu.
Not to be outdone, Sony is thought to have the flagship 5in Odin in the works. We’ve heard plenty in words, and now we have a picture to go on.
The Sony Odin image first appeared over on Japanese site rbmen.blogspot, however a Chrome translation sees the chap warn that he’s “unable to verify the authenticity, so I do not know whether it is real or fake.”
And hey, it wouldn’t be the first Sony fake we’ve laid eyes on recently. Sony Nexus X, anyone?
Whether the Sony Odin pic is legit or otherwise, it does sound very much like the device is in the works, with the rumour mill painting a fairly vivid picture.
Sony Odin specs are tipped to include a 5in display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor at 1.5GHz (what else?), and 2GB of RAM (yep, as expected).
As for a Sony Odin launch, CES 2013 is looking like front-runner at the moment. Of course, last year in Vegas Sony launched the Sony Xperia S – their first dual-core smartphone, and first post-Ericsson device.
We expect the Sony Odin will adopt Xperia branding and some arbitrary letter, in keeping with tradition. Sony Xperia O, maybe?
