Sony Sirius: 5.2in, Snapdragon 800-fuelled Xperia Z1 successor; Sony Castor tablet, tooThe Sony Xperia Z1 Compact finally touched down at CES 2014 this week, and while that’s all well and good, what we really want to know about are the next flagships – both smartphone and tablet.

Well, our prayers have been answered, thanks to everyone’s favourite twitter-based mobile leakster.

That’s right, we’re thanking @evleaks when we relay the first murmurings of the Sony Sirius smartphone and Sony Castor tablet.

The first tweet reads: “Sony Sirius (2014 flagship) tipped for MWC debut: 5.2-inch display, MSM8974AB SoC, and a home on Verizon in the US.”

Shortly thereafter, a follow-up tweet promises: “Sony Castor: an MSM8974AB-powered tablet, in 4G and Wi-Fi flavors.”

The vaguely interesting thing there is that the MSM8974AB variant of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor is a tad faster than the plain old MSM8974.

Of course, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 in the pipeline too, but it’s maybe still a bit too early for that if we’re talking an MWC 2014 launch.

Speaking of MWC 2014, it opens its doors on February 24, and other candidates for launch include the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo and Galaxy Note 3 Lite.
