The Sony Xperia Z2 became a reality at Mobile World Congress (MWC) back in February, and being wiseacres, we immediately demanded: What about the Sony Xperia Z2 Compact?
It’ll likely be a few months before the Sony Xperia Z2 Compact launches (the Z1 Compact being just a few months old), but in the meantime, we’re seeing something called the Xperia A2. Are they one and the same?
As told by Japanese-language ATRPG (Google Translate), the Sony Xperia A2 appears in some sort of brochure, and is shown in Gray Black, White, Lavender and Orange.
Sony Xperia A2 specs supposedly include a 4.3in 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, and 2GB of RAM.
You’d be forgiven for thinking those specs sound familiar, as they’re identical to those of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, and in turn Japan’s Sony Xperia Z1 f.
So how does the Sony Xperia A2 fit in? Uhm, we’re not entirely sure. Some sort of Japanese network variant of the Xperia Z1 f, maybe?
We’d be incredibly surprised if the Xperia Z2 Compact touched down with identical specs to the Xperia Z1 Compact. Give us the Xperia Z2's Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, for starters.
We’ll keep our eyeballs peeled for further Sony Xperia A2 news. In the meantime, tickle us baffled.
