Sony Xperia Tablet Z announced early, quad-core 1.5GHz, 10.1in 1920 x 1200

Sony Xperia Tablet Z announced early, quad-core 1.5GHz, 10.1in 1920 x 1200We were fully expecting the Sony Xperia Tablet Z to launch around now, thanks to a recent unofficial leak, but it appears to have popped up a couple of days early. Sort of.

In any case, early or not, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z has been made official over in the Land of the Rising Sun, and it sounds pretty good.

Getting down to brass tacks, Sony Xperia Tablet Z specs include a Qualcomm quad-core APQ8064 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 10.1in display (1920 x 1200) and 8MP rear camera.

Other Sony Xperia Tablet Z specs of note include NFC (Near Field Communication), LTE, 32GB internal storage (with microSD), and 2GB of RAM, while Japanese site Blog of Mobile is reporting a 6,000mAh battery.

Also worth mentioning are the Sony Xperia Tablet Z’s dimensions. At 6.9mm thick and weighing 495g, it’s the world’s thinnest and lightest 10in tablet. And how about a little waterproof and dustproof action?

Perusing the press release, there’s no specific word on a Sony Xperia Tablet Z release date (or price), only that it’s coming to Japan this Spring. The aforementioned leak suggested it’d go on sale tomorrow, again mentioning only Japan.

Sony may make nice looking well specced goodies, but until they offer longer software support for new android versions. I am going to stick with Nexus products !

I wouldn't mind speedier release and more competitive pricing too, considering the Nexus 10 should be available soon.
