This year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) is shaping up to be the most interesting mobile trade show in years, with Samsung, Sony, Huawei and LG – among others – tipped to bring bulging sacks of brilliance to Barcelona.
We’ll almost certainly meet the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone flagship, for example, but reserve a little space in your memory banks, too, for the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet.
We’ve been jawing about this baby as the Sony Castor, and while @evleaks simply calls it the Sony Xperia Z2 (same as the smartphone), we imagine it’ll come to market as the Sony Xperia Tablet Z2, much like the Sony Xperia Tablet Z.
The twitter-based leak machine says Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 specs will include a 10.1in Triluminous display with a decent 1920 x 1200 resolution. That’s not quite to the lofty standard of the 2560 x 1600 Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, but we’re sure it’ll get the proverbial job done.
Other Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 specs will supposedly include a quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, 3GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage (augmentable via microSD), 8MP/2MP cameras, and KitKat Android 4.4.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z2’s thickness is just 6.4mm, but that means your battery is just 6,000mAh, compared to, say, 8,220mAh on the aforementioned Samsung tablet. Battery over thinness, Sony. ALWAYS BATTERY OVER THINNESS.
On the plus side, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 boasts waterproofing, a firm favourite feature of Sony’s.
Expect to learn more about Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 pricing and availability in six days’ time. Y’know, assuming it’s heading to MWC.
