Things move fast in the world of mobile. People rocking the spanking new Samsung Galaxy S5 might well feel a little chagrined if/when the rumoured Galaxy F pops up, and owners of the Sony Xperia Z2 now find themselves in a similar boat.
That’s because the Sony Xperia Z3 is suddenly getting the rumour treatment, with some suggesting it’ll land as early as next month.
We’re looking at a pic that originated over on Chinese-language Digi-wo, and while the snap itself is fairly unremarkable, the interesting thing is the suggestion that we’re looking at the Sony Xperia Z3 and the accompanying Z3 Compact.
Sony has gone a tad flagship crazy of late. The original Sony Xperia Z was unveiled at CES in January of 2013, followed by the Xperia Z1 at IFA in September that year, while this year’s Mobile World Congress played host to the Xperia Z2. Phew.
As such, it’s not much of a stretch to imagine the Sony Xperia Z3 landing shortly, but while some are saying August, IFA 2014 in September seems like a safer bet – for our money.
As for the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, it’ll likely have near-identical specs, but with a smaller display and lower resolution. Interestingly, it looks like Sony will skip the Xperia Z2 Compact entirely - the Z1 Compact being just six months old at this stage.
The Japanese manufacturer also appears to be teasing an Xperia Z2 Ultra, essentially Sony's big-screen answer to the Galaxy Note.
