The Sony Xperia Z3 is tipped to launch at IFA 2014 in Berlin, barely six months after the launch of the Xperia Z2 (left).
But if you’ve recently invested in the latter, you might find some comfort in the news that the Xperia Z3 sounds pretty much identical to the current Sony smartphone flagship.
Mr Evan Nelson Blass aka @evleaks has provided a fairly comprehensive list of Sony Xperia Z3 specs, and for the most part, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were reading about the Xperia Z2.
Supposedly, Sony Xperia Z3 specs include a 5.15in 1080p display (a whole 0.05in smaller than the Xperia Z2), Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 16GB internal storage (presumably with microSD compatibility), 3GB of RAM, 20.7MP/2.1MP cameras, and KitKat Android 4.4.4.
There’s no specific mention of dust proofing or water resistance, but they’ll almost certainly be in attendance, as per the Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z2.
At this stage in the game one might expect Sony to challenge the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A with a QHD display (2560 x 1440) and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, but, well, no. Apparently not.
IFA 2014 gets underway in early September, and the Sony Xperia Z3 will almost certainly be overshadowed by the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the imminent arrival of the big-screened iPhone 6. Just saying.
