The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet (above) is still a relatively new thing, but given Sony’s prolific flagship smartphone output (pretty much one every six months at the moment), it’s clearly never too early for new stuff.
The Japanese manufacturer is tipped to unveil new goodies at IFA 2014 in Berlin next month, and the line-up might well include a spanking new tablet.
Indonesian authorities have seemingly given something called the SGP621 the stamp of approval, and logic vaguely suggests it’ll be the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet. Maybe.
Xperia Blog observes that the LTE versions of the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet and the original Xperia Tablet Z carried model numbers SGP521 and SGP321 respectively, so it’s probably fair to assume this new thing, the SGP621, comes with LTE connectivity.
Otherwise, not a great deal is known, but Sony is rumoured to be prepping a smaller tablet device, perhaps something similar to the LG G Pad 8.3, though the Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia Z2 Tablet both had 10.1in displays.
Clearly anyone’s guess at this stage, but we might well learn more at IFA 2014 next month, where Sony is expected to launch the Xperia Z3 and possibly the Z3 Compact on September 3. Lots of 3s going on there, which kinda gives credence to the notion of the Z3 Tablet launch. Three new Z3 devices on September 3? Possi-three (sorry).
