We’re about to right that particular wrong with a look at the “first 3D renderings” of the Sony Xperia Z4, a phone that doesn't look radically different from the Xperia Z3 at first glance, though there are - upon closer inspection - a few interesting points to note.
The Sony Xperia Z4 renders are shared by French-language Nowhereelse.fr (translated), with author Steve giving credit to a “source in whom I have complete confidence”.
These Sony Xperia Z4 renders are (or were) intended for internal use only, and weren’t destined to be official press pics, but they do give us an idea, at least, of what Sony might have up its sleeve.
Notable differences between the Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z4 include more prominent front-facing stereo speakers on the latter, the SIM slot moving from the right to left, and the apparent absence of a microSD slot (à la Galaxy S6).
Sony Xperia Z4 dimensions are – we’re told – 146.3 x 71.9 x 7.2mm, so we’re talking tenths of a millimetre different than the Xperia Z3 at 146 x 72 x 7.3mm.
Other rumoured Sony Xperia Z4 specs include a 5.2in 1080p display (Sony seemingly refuses to join the resolution race, much like HTC), Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, and 3 or 4GB of RAM.
Again, the Sony Xperia Z4 launch is vaguely tipped for summer, which probably means sometime around June, July or August. Ish.
