Sony Xperia ZR specs leaked, sits somewhere between Xperia Z and Xperia SP

Sony Xperia ZR specs leaked, sits somewhere between Xperia Z and Xperia SPSony’s smartphone output has been pretty decent this year, with the waterproof flagship Sony Xperia Z recently joined by the more modest Sony Xperia SP (pictured).

If you’ve been holding out for something that’s a little bit of both, brace yourself for the Sony Xperia ZR. It sounds pretty sweet, actually.

Looking at the display for starters, the Sony Xperia ZR matches the Xperia SP with a 4.6in 720p effort. The design is also said to be fairly similar.

However, delving further into the Sony Xperia ZR spec sheet, it definitely smells more like the Sony Xperia Z.

Other Sony Xperia ZR specs include a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage (with a microSD slot for expansion), a 13MP rear camera and 2,300mAh battery.

In addition, the Sony Xperia ZR will boast better-than-Xperia-Z IP55/IP58 water resistance, with the ability to hold its breath in 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes.

Finally, Sony Xperia ZR dimensions are thought to include thickness of above 10mm (fine by us) and a weight of around 140g.

Depending how it’s priced, the Sony Xperia ZR might well grab our seal of approval.

Bear in mind you're looking at the Sony Xperia SP there, as mentioned in the first paragraph ;)

Good old Sony, they know how to alienate their customers with silly names that mean nothing to anyone. You should clearly be able to tell which product is the latest and greatest from the model name but with their daft naming system it's impossible and stupid!

Sony also released Xperia Z tablet which is also a rugged model. Now a new rumor has taken place about Xperia ZR. This device is another variant in the Z series which also feature similar rugged feature but might have better processing power. It is not clear when the device will be coming out but there are some glimpses on the web. It is better once Sony confirm the new is correct or not.
