Sony Yuga to rock 128GB internal storage?

Sony Yuga to rock 128GB internal storage? It’s probably fair to say that while Sony’s Xperia range is decent enough, there’s nothing hugely remarkable about the handsets – certainly not from the average consumer’s point of view.

If the rumour mill is to be believed, however, Sony is set to push the boat out next year with a monstrous 6in smartphone behemoth, and now we’re hearing that the rumoured 5in Sony Yuga might have 128GB internal storage. Cripes.

We’ve been drinking a fair bit of Sony Yuga rumour juice of late, most recently seeing the smartphone rocking a game of mahjong in a fairly bland pic.

Sony Yuga specs sound decidedly impressive, however. Various rumours have suggested a 5in 1080p display, rear camera in the 12-16MP arena, 2-3GB of RAM, and a 3,000mAh battery.

The Sony Yuga is also tipped to be water and dust-resistant, which I still reckon will become a standard feature on high-end smartphones in due course. Probably once the iPhone goes waterproof, with Apple inevitably taking credit for inventing the technology.

Getting back to Sony Yuga specs, the latest rumour throws in “128GB ROM”. Interesting. At present, as far as I’m aware, the meatiest smartphone storage option is the 64GB Samsung Galaxy S III, which can be extended to 128GB via microSD.

Well, 128GB of storage would certainly go down a treat. Even with 64GB of storage to play with, it’s often not enough to accommodate entire music collections.

Just dread to think what Sony would charge for that...

Yes. Also, I reckon they'll manage to make it unremarkable in some weird way only Sony can come up with...

Old folks here: remember Ericsson R380? Never owned one but saw some people using it around 2001 and it looked so cool at THAT time. These Sony smartphones today... there's just something that doesn't click.

Sounds plausible, other than making it too big it's tricky on reading the specs to see where though.

Oooh some kind of propriety cabling or network video transmission that only works with Sony TVs due in 2014 that get cancelled?

Battery life and software bugs, would be my guesses.

I'd never heard of it, and think I should have left it at that....

Looks sh*t, glad I didn't care about technology that didn't have wheels and an engine, back then.

If they manage that with a 3000mAh battery..
The latter is more than plausible though and slow updates..

Smaller battery with a bigger, higher resolution display than the Note 2 has...they could f*ck it up.

It's 5" so smaller than the Note or Note2 and yeah likely it might not last as long as them, but be capable I would think.

PProbably some revamped Bravia nonsense or skin overlay... Oh, I don't know.
Like that other guy, something that Sony do just makes me tune out. The X10 Mini was the last device that was at least curious. Everything since has been just... ah-yes-that-Xperia-um... Not even proper bad LOL...

But hey, I'm no Android fan. So, carry on.

I thought this was the 6" one, shows how much attention I pay to Sony stories.

He mentioned the 6" one in passing but it's about one of the twin 5"ers
