South Korea bans SGS2 + iphone 4.

http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/08/24/apple-and-samsung-swap-patent-violations-in-south-korea-galaxy-nexus-iphone-4-and-others-banned/

Now there's a score draw that neither wanted, though likely slightly preferable to Apple as SGS2 possibly was selling more than i4. Though it does effect the ipad2 which was likely outselling the Tab and Tab 10.1 also banned :)

Funny anyway, guess next year the 4s and sgs3 will be playing same game.

Overall Apple do have to pay Samsung 15 million Won, though.

HAHAHAHA, I wondered how much that was in GBP....just over 8 grand... :p.

Also, I'm glad I live in the UK and these patent wars have largely stayed out of our courts and when they have found their way in, Apple lost (always makes me happy).

I quite like that both got banned, can imagine the judges thinking maybe this'll make them play nicely and stop boring us with this.

That the amounts were so trivial is quite telling too.

LOL. Wish these companies would focus more on customers and technology and less on competitors and patent law. Some of these patents are so broad or so trivial as to be laughable.

That's definitely not going to happen now Samsung taken a hammering in US rulings so far as jury reads out conclusion!

Seriously nailed to the wall.

$1.051 billion...ouch. Oh well, it's less than half of the $2.5 billion which Apple asked for. It also won't affect us here in the UK, since we have a legal system which works (well, better than the US', anyway).

Most retailers over here will completely ignore the bans. Rest assured.

If only more countries were like that *cough* USA, land of the free *cough*

If the ban wasn't ignored, it would be much worse for Apple. Though it must be said Koreans are shifting from the iPhone anyway. It's comparatively very expensive for a phone with no LTE, T-DMB or NFC support, a small screen and relatively few Korean language apps. There's simply more capable phones (the Korean SGS3 for example is both LTE and has 2GB ram) for less.

The iPhone 5 does need to deliver over here.

I'm really really trying... But as long as there is KIES, and as long as you need hours to uninstall it PROPERLY after realising HOW BAD it is, I just cannot 'feel for' Samsung. :p
If they shipped a £1 sd card reader with their £500 phones and a note saying "get used to it", I'd be more sympathetic.
