Spotify arrives for Windows Phone 7

Spotify arrives for Windows Phone 7Why was I writing about Spotify recently? Ahh yeah, the free Spotify action with Virgin Media thingy. Good stuff.

Anyway, more Spotify action today, with the news that the music streaming service has launched an app for Windows Phone 7 users.

The Spotify Blog chirps: “By a delightful coincidence, Windows Phone 7 is our seventh mobile app. Created with our friends at Microsoft, this app will give you an outstanding music experience on your Windows Phone 7.”

Some standout features include:

  • Access to your existing playlists
  • Offline playlists
  • Auto-syncing playlists on your phone and computer
  • Tag playlists to the Start screen as Windows Live Tiles
  • Pause, Play and Skip tracks from the lock screen

The app also integrates with social networking thingies, such as Facebook, Twitter, and, er, Windows Messenger. Remember when people used MSN? It’s like a freakin’ virtual ghost town these days.

It’s doubtful that Spotify’s arrival will tempt many people over to Windows Phone 7, but it’s good news for early adopters of Microsoft’s OS. I feel like they deserve a wee treat.
