Is there such a thing as a "spy app"?

Is there such a thing as a "spy app"? That would let the spy see all your texts?
And would there clearly be an icon for it??

Erm, not that I've ever heard of. Then again, I guess someone with enough skill could write an app (especially for Android, due to the ease of side-loading apps) which could so some very dodgy things.

Yes, there are. Many corporations install apps like that on the handsets they give their employees

That, and the fact the company's paying the bill, hence see a record of every call/text you make.

Yeah, legally no issue if they tell you it's a work-only phone. When you use your office phone they can listen in or record "for training purposes" ;)

Wikileaks claimed last year that more than 200 companies provide software to spy on smartphones - to both government and private organisations. Some of those software packages can make your phone appear to be in airplane or standby mode while they upload your content or listen in to conversatiions in the room... Good times. Good to know that only other people's governments go rogue from time to time ;)
