How do I start a chat session on the Vodafone website?

I had a chat with someone on Vodafone’s site the other night, but it doesn’t seem to happen any more. How do you start a chat session with someone?

Visit Vodafone Here

1) Select Personal
2) Select Pay Monthly
3) Select Looking For Something Else
4) Select How do I change my phone number

And the live chat option will appear. Alternatively this shorthand link sometimes works

Last time I was on, a window just popped up of its own accord. Maybe just have a browse around and try and get it to work - I cannot see a way to force a chat. Also consider that it may only be operational during certain hours of the day perhaps?

There are some alternatives here too

Oh - I just left the page open while I was browsing elsewhere and it appeared after about 5 minutes.

Before you start calling Vodafone all sorts of names, consider the fact it was gone 7PM on a Saturday when you posted your comment here, the VF live chat staff were probably at home.

Also, VF aren't "cowboys", they're a huge, multi-national network with millions of customers. It may be annoying that something has gone wrong for you, but expecting live help in the evening, on a weekend, then calling the whole company "cowboys" when that's not possible, is a little extreme.

I can't get through to a VF support member either, so they're obviously not "cowboy jokers" who won't talk to you now you've bought your new iPhone.

Wait? Or talk to them on Twitter https://twitter.com/VodafoneUK They are responsive there.
Or phone customer care.

Live chat is ideal but you have to insist on speaking to a senior manager, keep at it and you will either get through to someone or a call back. Insist enough and you will get a call back within 2-4 hours. When they dont call back after 4 hours, trust me they wont call back, try the live chat again and keep insisting. I got the line managerI was chatting with
to call me direct on my landline, he transferred me directly to the manager of the call centre, who discussed everything with me. He was unable to transfer me to Customer Relations (This is the most senior department for complaints) as they were closed, however he called me back the next morning and transferred me himself. problem solved, You need to get through to customer relations, and the easiest way, I PROMISE is through the online chat. The online chat is based in India, and like it or not, when you get through to the Call centre managers they bend over backwards to help you. If you phone up you usually get through to Egypt, where the staff are unhelpful and arrogant, bordering on rude. The links above are perfect, I have included it here as well, if they dont pop up on your systemit is because you have a pop up blocker in place. Check your browser first and then your Antivirus/firewall settings to make sure pop ups are not blocked.

Dont ever call Voda on the phone, they will make your life a nightmare, promise unreasonable callbacks thath they will not make and genreally make you miserable. Use the live chat, and it may take a while but things will get sorted much easier.

hi ,, i hav been trying for the last 2 days to get someone on the live chat, but keep getting told There are currently no available agents to interact with you. Please try again later.
i put my samsung fone bk to factory settings, and i cnt get on the internet no more now, i can use the wifi thro my own router but not the data i have got on my sim. i need help with this as i pay monthly so am losing money

JanSt / MOD  May. 21, 2013 at 22:04

I can only guess, but: the factory reset probably wiped your internet settings.
Read => http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Samsung-Galaxy-S-Series/IMPORTANT-CORRECT-APN-settings-for-Contract-Internet-and-MMS/td-p/1084709

Also: can you not phone customer care? Or contact Vodafone in their forum or on Twitter (they seem quite helpful there - it's a big audience ;) ).

Go on Twitter during office hours - @vodafoneUK are actually quite helpful. They might be able to solve your problems themselves, or hook you up with a chat partner. Just make sure you are friendly and polite and to the point.

VodaMan1234  Jul. 3, 2013 at 09:13

Hey Guys,

Live chat is no longer available through the above links. Live chat is only available for customers now purchasing online through the cart. It's currently in a new test mode, so that's why it's restricted to online orders only.

The agents will only help place an online order. They will not look up your account, trouble shoot your phone, help with bills, or track your orders, or any other customer care query.

They've been told not to do those things, so won't do them for you sorry.

Live chat is also only open from 8am AEST to 8pm AEST. Outside those hours you will get no answer from any agent, as they've left work.

If you do have a serious issue that needs fixing ASAP, I suggest you call Customer Care, or visit the Online Support page. A lot of helpful answers there.

Thanks guys!

I recommend to catch them on their Social Media accounts..instead of live chat...Twitter & facebook is a good choice and you will get your response quickly :)

cartwright91  Feb. 9, 2014 at 14:53

whenever i try to talk to live chat there are never any agents to help me. i email them and never get any response. i rang them up to sort out my account which they still haven't done. it's frustrating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JanSt / MOD  Feb. 9, 2014 at 19:41

There's a reason they are called networks

I have been trying to cancel a contract I've had for years - and haven't used for 12 months. I rang - but was advised it had to be put in writing and the way to do that was live chat. I tried to do that - the first time I got through to live chat - but at the point I told them I was cancelling a contract - I was put through to "that department" . I waited 30 minutes and eventually was put through - and started the security questions all over again. Given this was an internal transfer this is clearly and blatantly a way to try to delay the process. Anyway , we got through that, but, some hour after I started the chat I had to go for an appointment at the doctors. I asked that they action the request. They didn't. I requested a transcript of the conversation. That wasn't forthcoming (it would have been incriminating). I got a "tell us what you think" text - I told them and requested a contact - it hasn't been followed up. Several million customers? No surprise then.

Since then, over the last month I have tried during the day, at night, in the drawing down of the day and at the dawn chorus. At least 50 times I have been told I have been in the queue waiting to be connected. Projected waiting times have varied from 30 seconds to 15 minutes - and every time, after waiting 2 - there have been no advisers available. Cowboys? I think so.

So now I'll resort to registered letter to head office - which will be lost. Don't, whatever you do, take out a contract with these people
