Is it possible to turn off 3G and just use 2G on my iPhone 4S? Would that help with battery life?

Yes it would help massively with battery life, but I have no idea if it's possible .

Settings > General > Network > Enable 3G
It even has a note underneath saying 'Using 3G loads data faster, but may decrease battery life'

Believe it or not: on the iPhone 4S you CANNOT disable 3G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoa. That is possibly the worst , most idiotic thing. Evah. Does anyone know if that is across all iOS5 devices or is it an iPhone 4S 'special' feature???
Apple, are you NUTS?

MDrX, that is the iPhone 4. I just checked - the 4S doesn't let you switch to "2G only"!

If as Jan says you can't (which would be very, very poor), get your netowrk to disable from their end.

I thought the 3G was only missing for Verizon and a few others? I know there was a bit of rumble about it but the consensus seemed to be that some people had it whilst other didn't.
