Sticky iPhone Home button - should I fix it myself?

My iPhone Home button keep getting stuck then popping back up. How much would it cost to fix? Is it worth trying to fix myself? I'm reasonably confident at taking stuff apart, but not sure about the iPhone!

If they phone's still under warranty, get Apple to do it for free. If not, I have no idea how hard it is to do yourself so I can't really advise you.

Have a look at this teardown guide and see for yourself, though as matt mentioned try Apple if it's still in warranty

If your iPhone 4S is under jailbreak, you can remap/-assign hardware buttons. There's a tweak just for that fault-prone homebutton.
But if you got warranty or a few bucks to spare...
