But fear not! Huawei has stepped into the incredibly narrow breach and is ready to bring us the P6-U06, which promises to be just 6.18mm thick.
French site NoWhereElse has even got photographic evidence of Huawei's skinny beast, which will no doubt be given a more Ascend-like title once it's made official rather than the clumsy P6-U06.
It promises to pack plenty of substance too despite its waif-like profile. A 1.5GHz quad-core processor, we're told, will be teamed up with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 5MP camera, while the display will measure 4.7in across with a resolution of 720p.
Needless to say it's an Android baby, and will launch with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on board.
When will that launch take place? Don't know. Will it make it to the UK? Don't know. Would we be telling you any of this if it wasn't such a freakishly thin device? No. Does any of this really matter in the greater scheme of things? I'll leave that one for you to decide.
