Will anything surpass Android any time soon?

Do you think any of the other operating systems have a chance against Android in the foreseeable future? Seems like the only thing that could really hurt Android at the moment would be Samsung turning their backs!

Samsung won't do that. And yeah, Android is the new Brew/Java...

Samsung won't turn their back on Android, or not in the foreseeable future anyway, and there's nothing which really rivals Android for mass market share either.

I'm sure one day Android will become less popular and a new, better OS will take the crown, but I don't see that day being anytime soon.

Windows Phone has a chance to beat Android. MS made a mistake of shipping Windows Phone as something separate from Windows.

Windows will remain dominant operating system and MS needs to make it appealing for everyone to upgrade to Windows 8 (starting by including all features of Windows 7). From there Windows Phone should be an addition to Windows 8, with all your account settings, apps and cloud data automatically available on your phone and your PC. Since everyone pretty much stuck with Windows 8 majority will use Windows Phone as a convenience of unified ecosystem.

Yeah, one would think so... Until 2008 the vast majority of the world's touchscreen phones ran WinMO. WinMo 6.5 has, to this day, the best mobile email client. I said "best" - not prettiest ;)
If they had built on the incredible succes of the HD2 rather than burn the platform, they could have advanced much farther by now.Instead of Skype they should have invested in SPB Software House, and hired straight from XDA... Run with it. Instead they are committee driven pencil pushers who talk loud.
