Last week, AllThingsD made Jan’s day by announcing that Taiwanese manufacturer HTC was working on a Facebook phone, named after his favourite TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
AllThingsD followed up with a reader survey, and essentially it sounds like people aren’t overly excited at the prospect of the HTC Buffy.
To be entirely fair, it’s worth pointing out that the AllThingsD readership (presumably) consists of people who are more interested in high-end devices than gimmicky nonsense that’ll predominantly be aimed at teenagers.
Anyways, the survey options/results (after 1,500ish responses) were:
- Yes, I would love some cellular poking! (8%)
- No, Mark Zuckerberg creeps me out enough already. (80%)
- Maybe, as long my unfortunate butt-dials, ill-advised exes-texting and drunken photos don't get auto-uploaded. (12%)
The HTC Buffy will be tailored for super-slick Facebook integration, and is expected to arrive in late 2012 or early 2013, by which point we’ll all have migrated to MyFace.
It'll run a customised version of Android, a bit like the Amazon Kindle Fire. That could be vaguely interesting. Maybe.
