New Symbian UI demoed by Three

New Symbian UI demoed by ThreeA video featuring a Three UK rep demoing the new Symbian UI on a Nokia X7 has appeared on YouTube. You can check it out right here, courtesy of user mobilesguruji.

The new Symbian UI is apparently all about speed. It’s now faster to access your home screen and favourite apps. The brand new browser is said to be three times faster than before.

The rep seems quite taken with the Nokia X7 too, pointing out its “beautiful” curved metal back, and telling us about the 4in display and 8MP rear camera.

Another couple of videos featuring the Nokia X7 and Nokia E6 made a brief appearance on YouTube, but have since been set to private.

Nokia will make an official announcement in London tomorrow, promising us that we’ll “Discover what’s new with Symbian smarthphones”. Exciting stuff.

Exciting, INDEED! Anyone with a Symbian ^3 device who uses Gravity, DiffTack, Opera Mini 6 or SPB Mobile Shell, knows Symbian is quite capable of running iPhone/Android quality type apps. The overhaul of the Nokia WebKit browser was OVERDUE, and bringing an 'interactive' notificationbar a la Android makes a big difference, as does the split-screen textentry and better integration of Swype. Add to that the X7's clear black screen, its 4(!) built-in speakers etc etc.... I definitely have that one on my radar. More importantly though: bring on PR 2.0, Nokia (why on earth did my C7 get a full update to 1.1 yesterday? Hopefully to prepare it for an imminent upgrade to 2.00???!!!)
