How tablet use is linked to telly watching

How tablet use is linked to telly watchingWho says men can't multitask? Along with women, it seems, we love nothing more than watching a bit of the old tellybox with something nice in our laps.

We are referring to tablets, of course. According to a report from Forrester research, 85% of tablet users theirs while watching TV instead of a laptop like days gone by.

The advent of Twitter has probably had a lot to do with this - with programmes now actively publicising their hashtags so that online communities can take part. But it also allows us to do a bit of the old web browsing, email and so forth.

What's interesting is that although tablets are supposed to be portable devices, according to Nielsen, 30% of their use comes from people using them whilst cultivating their square eyes. And then there's the people who use their tablets to watch TV using catchup services like BBC iPlayer and 4OD etc.

The report makes really interesting reading. You can dive in here.
