A supposed release schedule for a wave of new tablets has been leaked to precentral.net by “a major US retailer”.
The printout features a table with four columns, namely Manufacturer, Operating System, Pricing and Current Launch Schedule. Bizarrely, it neglects to name any of the tablets, referring to BlackBerry’s PlayBook, for example, as Blackberry 7”.
Incidentally, the release date for the so-called Blackberry 7” is given as March 27. If the BlackBerry PlayBook is out in two weeks, I’ll eat my shoes*.
There’s also mention of an HTC 10”, scheduled to ship in June 2011. The 7in HTC Flyer, meanwhile, doesn’t appear on the list.
According to the schedule, HP’s TouchPad will touch down in June 2011, priced similarly to the iPad 2. A 7in tablet from HP follows in September; it’s been seen before, codenamed Opal.
Maybe I’m being thrown off by the crappy-looking table, but I think I’ll take those dates and figures with a pinch of salt.
