Sony officially lifted the lid on its S1 and S2 tablets some four months ago, and despite plenty of action shots and public appearances, things have been oddly quiet on the specs front.
We recently learned that the S1 will launch as the Tablet S, and we’re now hearing that the S2 will be the Tablet P. Corpus Christi, that’s a bit rubbish. As their respective launches draw ever closer, a trickle of specs has leaked.
The magazine-style Tablet S weighs in at 600g, a whole 1g lighter than the iPad 2. Seriously. It’ll be available with 16 or 32GB internal storage, and 1GB of RAM. As we mentioned the other day, it’s expected to go on sale in the next few weeks.
The clamshell Tablet P has two 5.5in displays, and weighs 370g. It’ll come with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a 2GB SD card. Hopefully it won’t be too far behind the Tablet S.
Both the Tablet S and Tablet P rock NVIDIA Tegra 2 processors and 0.3MP front-facing cameras, with Honeycomb performing the OS honours.
