We've had phones from sports car makers, and from fashion brands, so why not watches? Sorry, what we meant was why not precision engineered luxury timepieces?
Behold the Tag Heuer Racer, a new Android smartphone that supposedly bucks the trend for designer phones to look good on the outside, but offer precious little under the surface.
We say supposedly, as Tag doesn't seem overly bothered to let anyone know exactly what the specs are, speaking instead in generic terms about a “shockproof rubber chassis”, “high speed processor” and the “latest Android software”. Oh, and there's “a new customisable 3D user interface to fit the individual needs of each owner”, too.
In fact, what the hell – here's a bit more from the press release while we're at it:
“Engineered without compromise, Tag Heuer Racer achieves an unparalleled torsion and strength to weight ratio. The result is a fusion of luxury and performance inspired by Tag Heuer heritage in GT cars and Formula 1.”
Yeah, because there's just not enough unparalleled torsion and strength to weight ratio in today's smartphones.
Anyway, it looks nice and if you shop in the right places you'll be able to get your hands on one yourself – and get rid of around £2,300 in the process. You've got until July to save up.
