Tegra 3 smartphones coming to Mobile World Congress

Tegra 3 smartphones coming to Mobile World CongressLet’s be honest, we were all fully expecting quad-core Tegra 3 smartphones at Mobile World Congress, but we’re still quite excited to hear semi-confirmation from the horse’s mouth.

Nvidia’s Mobile World Congress invite screams: “QUAD-CORE FIRSTS CONTINUE AT MWC!” Sah-weet.

The invite doesn’t specifically mention anything about smartphones per se, but there’s a picture of a dude holding a smartphone on a rollercoaster, and we’re promised “the future of mobile computing”.

HTC is expected to unveil at least one quad-core Tegra 3 smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2012. Back in November we first heard whispers of the HTC Edge and HTC Zeta.

Another quad-core possibility is the LG X3, with a 4.7in 1280x720 display, 8MP rear snapper, 1.3MP front camera, Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and 16GB internal storage, and all under 9mm thick.

Mobile World Congress 2012 gets underway two weeks today, however, traditionally, some of the big manufacturers hold exclusive events the day before. The HTC Edge in particular is tipped for an early reveal this year.
