Holy. Mother. Of fug. The artist formerly known as the HTC Ace is two years old in October, but us faithful HTC Desire HD owners have continually been promised a slice of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0).
However, according to Canadian network Telus, Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC Desire HD ain’t happenin’.
We haven’t heard much in the meantime, and indeed the HTC Desire HD still appears over on HTC’s Android 4.0 Update Frequently Asked Questions, with an ETA of July/August.
But, a Device OS Upgrade Schedule (PDF) from Telus states – with regards to Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC Desire HD – “upgrade cancelled”. Bad times.
Of course, there's always the chance that it's simply Telus that can't be bothered tinkering with the HTC Desire HD Ice Cream Sandwich update.
In any case, HTC isn’t the only manufacturer struggling away with Ice Cream Sandwich. Back in March, Sony announced that it wouldn’t push out updates over the air (OTA) as handset performance might suffer under the weight of ICS.
And, to make matters worse, Google has started rolling out Jelly Bean (Android 4.1).
Amazing. Bring on the iPhone 5, I say.
