Is Tesco the best contract iPhone 4S deal?

I can't afford to buy an iPhone 4S SIM free, sadly!

Susan, it's because a surprising amount of the UK (for a developed nation), gets a very weak or non-existent 3G signal and as 3 have no access to the 2G spectrum, that means "no 3G = no signal at all", which as you can probably imagine is quite annoying if you live in a weak 3G area.

Though evidently where you and your partner live there is a decent 3G signal as your partner doesn't seem to be affected by it :).

If you get a signal where you spend most of your time, he's right, 3 are a brilliant network. If not, they're erm....a bit crappy...for want of a better term :p.

I think it is, if they ever get any stock in, I know some people who have been waiting since launch

I receive random emails from tesco and have been asked to reply YES if I want to stay on waiting list. I imagine Tesco are not getting the price they want to pay, however this could be a PR disaster and they will lose many customers back to it's rivals.

Nope, Three is.

2000 Mins
5000 Texts
5000 3-3 calls
All you can eat data (unlimited)

£35pm + £99 for iPhone 4s 16GB

Best deal fr the iphone imo.

Is this a 2 year contract? Why does everybody dislike 3 so much on hotukdeals. My partner is with 3 on i phone and does not have problems. He said they are "brilliant".

3 mobile recon they get a 98% coverage these days. i would say they can easily say a guaranteed 80% coverage with ease the rest may have issues with drop out.

matt101101 / MOD  Nov. 13, 2011 at 22:23

*Reckon (it annoys me every time you write that word :p).

Yeah, from what I've heard, though it is only what I've heard not first hand experience, Three (3), are far better nowadays than they were when they first came onto the scene a few years ago.

Thanks for all the info. Unfortunately i accidently broke my screen on my i phone 3gs 32 and it is with the insurers (it has been in quality control for 5 day!) and to be honest I was very happy with it (apart from no flash on camera). I think they may offer me some money but would also be happy to have it repaired. Perhaps I am just getting too inpatient and have also been considering Tesco contract, however i phone 4 s non existent. Sorry to all the people that do not like apple but I love my phone as it does every thing I want quickly and is easy to use. So I am off to quido to see if any discount on the 3 deal. Any other suggestions or advise will be gratefully received.

Treab  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:07

susan for the one plan..

your getting quidco of £109 (so an extra 10 quid after the 99 phone cost) on a 35 a month plan...

via topcashback its 110.09 so 11.09 ..

matty i know recon has a 'k' but i thought it would annoy janny before you :p

most opinions are based on three at the start when they were starting out so the 3g network was being built and they piggy backed oranges 2g network... but times have massively changed...

Treab  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:13

and who ever gave matt top answer needs to look at themselves in the mirror and realise how they disappointed all us nerds...

susan ricks  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:15

Quidco are giving £109 cashback so very good deal. ?should I sign up for 2 year deal. I really feel that phones are not worth very much after 2 years; great as a back up whilst a broken phone is in repair/insurance. At the moment I am with Tesco on a monthly contract, but 500mb data runs out after two weeks so not very happy with it.

matt101101 / MOD  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:22

Well, the iPhone holds it's value pretty well (the best out of all the common smartphones easily). Look on eBay and see how much 3GS' are going for nowadays, should give you an idea of how much your 4S would be worth in 2 years time :).

matt101101 / MOD  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:23

Treab, you're such a sarcy little git :p!

Treab  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:30

when does your tesco deal expire?

Treab  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:32

LITTLE... you want to ask your wife about that matty :p

susan ricks  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:53

I have a rolling 1 month contract with tesco, so can can cancel after 1 month. Very tempted by 3 deal on i phone 4 s with cashback. Works out cheaper than tesco over 2 years and loads of extra minutes. Also added bonus of phone in 2 days v infinitum with Tesco. Very nearly pressed the buy button but will sleep on it and decide tomorrow. Thank you everybody for all your help. Also when insurance comes back to me with an insufficient offer I can fight to the end for best price or sell on ebay (but would prefer to keep as spare as have been given a nokia and it is soul destroying, never thought i would be doing predictive again!

Treab  Nov. 13, 2011 at 23:59

Ahh well hope u make the right decision and buy a samsung galaxy s2 ;) but if you do decide to buy the iphone hope it works well for you ;)

AhmadCentral  Nov. 14, 2011 at 00:07

Yep, i live in right next to the head office so signal on Three isn't a problem for me :P

But yeh, i understand where all the negativity comes from, Three used to be terrible when you could hardly get signal anywhere. But for the past 2 years I've hardly ever had to use my o2 phone due to not gettng Three signal. Infact sometimes i get signal on three in areas with no o2 signal!

The only thing i hate about three is that their customer service isn't always great. But if you talk to the right people in store/on the site your issue is usually worked out faster than if you were to call them up.

Plus their retentions team is awesome, Samsung Galaxy S2 for £25pm on the one plan atm (usually £35pm).

Like i said above, Three do the best deals for the iPhone atm, and when i say best i'm including the service as well. Three have improved a lot from a few years back. Especially being the only network to offer truly unlimited data. I just hope they can keep it up for the next 2 years i'm with them!

Really, never realised it was down to £30! It was taken out about a month ago, most of my family are on Three so retentions are pretty good with us. :)

Treab  Nov. 14, 2011 at 00:20

it may have been text 500 down to 27... meaning with all you can eat to 30..

still i have 2 odd months till my last month renewal so if three cant offer me a good deal (i.e. better than dial a phone prices) then i will be moving...

Treab  Nov. 14, 2011 at 00:22

but the best bit about 3 mobile imo is the tariff capping.. alot of mobile providers wont put a limit on the contract spend... three mobile do if you ask...

AhmadCentral  Nov. 14, 2011 at 00:26

Yep, i remember that one. But the reason i didn't want the 500 Mins plan was because the all you can eat add on does not include tethering. Didn't want to run the risk of being caught and then blocked. So the One Plan was the one i went for, you get so much more as well.

Btw, i'd recommend waiting till your last month of your contract. Three will always ring you and try to get you to sign up to some 'standard off the website deal' before your last month.

If you wait till the last month and ring them up and do some leaving/better deal elsewhere routine they'll usually offer you something better. I remember last year with my mum we said we were leaving because they couldn't offer us any deals. He gave us a pac code and then literally five minutes later we got a call from someone else offering a Nokia 5230 at £20pm on the one plan, I think the standard price was around £25pm at the time. We managed to get some vouchers thrown in as well which i felt was good enough so we went for it.

Treab  Nov. 14, 2011 at 00:30

tbh im willing to drop down the mins im on the equivalent 500 text tariff but i don't need that much atm..

worst case i get the samsung galaxy s2 on the 21.50 a month tariff via o2 ;)

AhmadCentral  Nov. 14, 2011 at 01:15

Three sometimes do custom deals (but not really on high end phones), so don't rule out being able to get a cheaper package with say 300 mins on the S2.

Best to wait till after christmas when your contract runs out to start comparing prices, hopefully (because of the nexus) the S2 price will come down everywhere.

Btw, if you could get an S2 outright at a cheap price from a retailer/friend, you could just go on a sim only plan, i know a friend whos got 300 mins, unl texts and 2.5GB data (with tethering) for £10pm.
