They do say 'Every Little Helps' but maybe Tesco wasn't referring to publicity after this pretty embarrassing blunder.
The supermarket's popular website got hit with an unexpected amount of traffic after accidentally putting the latest iPad up for sale around £600 cheaper than Apple themselves.
Bungling bosses promised the iPad 64GB Wifi and 4G model for £49.99 to those who came first. And they came in droves. Hundreds of punters got confirmation of their orders with some ordering several for family and friends before Tesco realised and put a stop to their fun.
‘We always look to offer our customers unbeatable value but unfortunately this is an IT error that is now being corrected,” a Tesco spokesperson said.
Unsurprisingly, Tesco hasn't honoured the glitch, cancelling orders and refunding the £49.99 (and missing a golden PR opportunity to cash in on the blunder.)
At least it did get some free publicity out of the whole debacle though - with "Every little helps" trending on Twitter for a while.
