What is tethering?

The term is usually used to say that you connect your phone to a PC /Mac in order to let the computer use the phone's internet connection - i.e., the phone is used as a modem. The connection can happen via USB-cable, bluetooth or WiFi. Some people also refer to "tethering" when they mean the opposite: let the phone use the PC's internet connection (most WinMo 6 and 6.5 phones did that out of the box, and it was useful when there was no wifi router around)

Oh I understand now. What I was hoping to do was to use my free BT Openzone from the iphone on my laptop when I am travelling.
