Thoughts on the Nexus 10?

Any thoughts on the Nexus 10? Good buy for £319?

Honestly? A shortage of decent Android tab-optimised apps means (to me) any £100 chinese import will do. Or none (even cheaper)

Half the price, apart from the screen res nothing is really hugely different. Both running jellybean (although nexus will get updates this one probably won't or will get it unofficially)

not bad price as well. Thinking of getting one for myself. Agree with Jan about the fact android tablets don't really matter with which one you get.

But yeh the screen res on nexus 10 is the only thing that justifies the price.

Well the screen res is surely a large part of the device, and apart from the processor/gpu, amount of ram, likely the speed of the ram and storage memory too, build quality, after sales support, weaker battery/less runtime, poorer wifi, heavier, without gps or nfc (i think)....

Sort of like comparing a galaxy ace to an s3 for me.

Couldn't agree more.

On the other hand, I think all tablets are pointless and if you really insist on buying one, get whatever the latest full-sized, non-cellular iPad at the time is.

...Can't say I really understand the. "All tablets are pointless...so just get the latest iPad" suggestion. I nearly came off my chair with that logic.

Though I do agree with the original comment that this is like comparing Galaxy Ace with S3 but in-fact worse...The galaxy ace probably has better Specs than that tablet.

AhmadCentral  Nov. 22, 2012 at 13:05

How does the galaxy ace have better specs?

Apart from after sales support the rest aren't that far off. There's a reason i recommended the tablet i did and not just any old crap.

"All tablets are pointless...so just get the latest iPad"
Interesting manipulation of what I said.

I said, I think tablets are pointless, but if someone were to insist wanting to buy one, I'd have to recommend they get the latest iPad. I said this due to the fact that the iPad is the best tablet experience, this is because it has far more actual tablet apps than any Android device. Also, the display on the iPad 3 and 4 is very, very nice. From what I've read, it's nicer than the N10 in reality.

Whereas i would counter with if your an android user the nexus 7 is best no buying the same apps

To which I'd counter with, I've only ever bought about 3 apps...and none of them still get used.

Says more about you tbh

I'm tight?

Talking of your N7, is it working again? The other week you mentioned something was wrong with it.

JanSt / MOD  Nov. 22, 2012 at 13:45

I'd have to agree with matt.
I wouldn't buy one myself, but get over it - the iPad is the best tab experience If you just want to watch vids and browse for ...something, then any tab will do.
I'm sure Surface RTs will be cheap 2nd hand soon.

CTPAHHIK  Nov. 22, 2012 at 15:07

Agree with Matt, if you are going to fork out £300+ for tablet pay more and get iPad.
I have Nook Color, sold Dell Streak, in the process of selling Nexus 7 and they all seem the same to me. I would not say that having one is better than the other. Overall experience is crap across all Android tablets, and as such I would go with cheaper version that Ahmad recommends.

In general, I do not see a reason in having a tablet. If you already have 4.7 inch phone there is not much that 7 - 10 inch tablet will offer. If you do not have 4.7 inch phone spend that £300 on getting one instead of going for tablet. If you really have a compelling reason to have a tablet (not just because it's cool to have one), then see above and go for iPad.

I have not used Windows 8 on a tablet yet, only on PC, but it looks very promising.
