There’s something very sexual sounding about a “7in Thrive”, infinitely more so than, say, a 7in Flyer or a 7in Galaxy Tab. Hmm, interesting.
Anyway, that’s exactly what Toshiba has under the table, a 7in Thrive. And Tosh is willing to let you touch it from this November. Hey, that’s not that far off, actually.
The original Toshiba Thrive looked pretty awesome when it first surfaced, but that was before the super-slim iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 arrived.
When the Toshiba Thrive finally hit le market, the tablet scene had changed considerably, and Tosh was left holding an absolute beast of a device. Decent specs, more ports than you could shake a stick at, but heavy as furg.
We’ve already heard about the ultra-skinny Toshiba AT200. It broke cover at IFA in Berlin a few weeks ago. But in the meantime, Tosh is set to unleash a 7in version of its Thrive.
"Stay entertained anywhere you go with Toshiba’s Thrive 7in Tablet. This compact, lightweight tablet fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and delivers plenty of performance for games, movies, music, photos and more on a brilliant HD multi-touch screen." Very good.
Toshiba promises a 1280 x 800 resolution, Android 3.2 (Honeycomb), an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, and 16/32GB options. No word on pricing just yet.
I’ve asked Toshiba’s PR dudes if we’ll be seeing the 7in variant in the UK… EDIT: Apparently it's just the US and Philippines for now. Ah well.
